I've been having a lovely adventure.<br /><br />On Satuday I was sleeping under the stars, on the roof of a house in New Mexico. I saw Texas for the first time, too. One of my fellow travelers slammed on her brakes so I could take a picture of my first tumbleweed. And now I'm in Arizona with its pebble lawns and six-foot-tall cacti. This part of the country may as well be mars. Its just sunny every day of the week, and the desert stretches as far as the eye can see. I'm so glad I had a chance to see it.<br /><br />I'm in Phoenix for 5 weeks, attending Teach for America's Institute - rapid fire teacher training, basically. I wake up at 5 and do not stop working until I got to bed at midnight. Except for tonight, when I have a spot of free time at last.<br /><br />It's hard. I've almost been in tears every day this week. Last Sunday I went to Mass to beg God to help me. It went to a little church I didn't know. It had a nice wooden floor, but no kneelers.
